Why the First Year of Nutrition Coaching Feels Slow
Learn why the first year of building a nutrition coaching business often feels slow, and how mentorship, decisive action, and a long-term mindset can help new nutrition coaches grow faster, get clients, and build a sustainable coaching career.
2-Tips

Kind Nerd Note: The first year of coaching feels slow for almost everyone. That doesn’t mean you’re doing it wrong.
Tip #1:
The Time Warp of Ambition
“Most people overestimate what they can do in a year and they underestimate what they can do in two or three decades.”
– Tony Robbins
Last week I shared how it took me about five years as a nutrition coach to earn the kind of reputation where people say, “You HAVE to work with Jen.”
One of my 1:1 PRO$PER mentoring students, Sarah, wrote back saying that was exactly what she needed to hear in year one.
She’s a mom with young kids, building a nutrition coaching business so she can leave her hospital job and coach inside the equestrian community she already belongs to.
See what's included with 1:1 mentoring.
Since joining PRO$PER Sarah has:
- launched her website
- printed business cards
- started giving local nutrition talks using the ready-to-go presentations inside PRO$PER
- begun getting clients from those presentations
Watching her build momentum this early reminds me how different the first few years can look when you don’t try to figure everything out alone.
When I started, I had no roadmap.
Now I get to help coaches shorten that timeline.
And the longer I stay in this field, the more I see Tony Robbins was right:
“Most people overestimate what they can do in a year and underestimate what they can do in two or three decades.”
Keep building.
The long game rewards the people who stay in it.
Tip #2:
Decisive People Win More
Success in life comes down to clear, confident decisions. Hesitation holds you back, while action moves you forward.
People who move quickly and have a bias toward action achieve more, faster.
This is a principle I hammer into my nutrition clients: stop overthinking and start taking action… any healthy action… that moves you closer to your goals. Don’t wait for the perfect time (it doesn’t exist). Don’t wait until you feel ready (you’ll be waiting forever). Just get started, today.
Decisive coaches earn more.
Decisive nutrition clients achieve better results.
Decisive people learn more from stacking up wins, and failures, FASTER, to figure out what works best for them.
Decisiveness is your superpower. Use it wisely.
Stay kind + nerdy,
❤️🐻🌈
