What Happens After Your Nutrition Client Graduates?

Most nutrition coaches lose clients at graduation without realizing it. Learn the three continuation options (maintenance, alumni, and recommit) that turn a program ending into long-term client retention and recurring revenue.

2-Tips

Kind Nerd Note: Graduation season isn't just for universities. If your nutrition clients tend to quietly disappear once they finish a program with you, it's time to name your graduation options.

Tip #1:
Your clients graduate. Then what?

Most nutrition coaches spend a ton of energy getting a client started. Intake forms, onboarding calls, goal setting, all of it.

But what happens when they finish the program they signed up for?

A lot of coaches just let their clients drift away. The client wraps up, everyone hugs it out, and they disappear. Sometimes forever.

The fix is to design what comes next before they graduate. And I love how my friend and colleague Trevor Wittwer from Coach Catalyst frames the three options:

  • Maintenance — they've hit their goal, they just need light support to stay there
  • Alumni — they're done for now, but they stay in your world (email list, community, etc.)
  • Recommit — they're ready to go again, new goal, new season

Three words. Three clear paths. And just naming them out loud in a graduation conversation changes everything, including how much ongoing revenue you’ll make as their nutrition coach.

Which one of these do you have a system for?
Honest answer: probably just the middle one by default.

In fact, I wrapped up a 1:1 mentoring session with a PRO$PER student last week and she went from zero graduation options to maintenance packages with pricing fully mapped out. This is exactly the kind of thing we dig into inside my nutrition certification and 1:1 mentoring. :)
