Macro Coaching Is Dead (Here’s What’s Replacing It)

Macro tracking apps are free. AI can give your clients numbers, but it can’t coach them through real life. In this post, I’m sharing why macro coaching is fading fast, and how the most in-demand nutrition coaches are staying fully booked in 2025.
Happy 2-Tips Tuesday!
Here are two ideas to consider this week.
By Jennifer Broxterman, RD
1. Macro Coaching Is Dead
Honestly, I kind of agree.
Watch this 30-sec reel where I explain why.
If all you offer is macro targets and a quick weekly Loom review…
a free app just beat you.
AI can help clients track their food, for free.
But it can’t coach a mom through stress-snacking after work.
It can’t ask the kind of questions that stop a self-sabotaging client in their tracks.
That’s what real nutrition coaching is.
And that’s why the coaches who are fully booked in 2025 aren’t selling macros anymore.
They’re leaning hard into the psychology of coaching and behavior change.
Because most people don’t want more numbers to track.
They want simplicity. Accountability. Encouragement. Realistic solutions.
And a human coach who can actually get them unstuck when life gets messy.
Like my client Hugo, who dropped 17 lb in just 8 weeks while juggling a 2-year-old and a 6-month-old.
All from a handful of simple, high-impact nutrition habits pulled straight from the 6-week coaching curriculum I share only inside PRO$PER — a fully done-for-you program that every PRO$PER student gets to use with their clients.
That’s exactly what I teach inside PRO$PER:
✅ How to use motivational interviewing in client check-ins
✅ How to keep clients engaged past the 3-month drop-off
✅ What to say and do in sessions to create breakthroughs
✅ How to turn nutrition coaching into a skill no robot can replace
If you’ve been feeling the pinch — ghosting, low retention, and struggling sales — it’s not just you. It’s that old-school macro-based coaching is fading out.
The future belongs to the nutrition coaches who can pair solid knowledge with real human connection.
Show Me the Coaching Skills Robots Can’t Replace
No lie, I’m fully booked with 1-on-1 nutrition clients until November, with a waitlist of people hoping to squeeze in sooner.
That’s not an accident. It’s the result of years spent refining the systems, coaching tools, and client experience that make me the most in-demand nutrition coach in my area, and allow me to run a multi–six-figure business doing work I love.
And for just 30 motivated coaches ready to level up this September, I’m pulling back the curtain.
I’ll show you exactly how I built this, and give you the tools to build your own version of success.
Every single grad raves this is the best nutrition training program they've ever taken, even the ones with multiple certifications under their belts.
This is the final enrollment for 2025, and doors close this Sunday.

2. If we haven’t met yet — hi, I’m Jen.
✅ Registered Dietitian
✅ former CrossFit gym owner
✅ university prof
✅ writer for Precision Nutrition
✅ cancer survivor
✅ creator of PRO$PER Nutrition Coaching
Over the past 15 years, I’ve built a thriving nutrition biz, coached 10,000+ clients (from Olympic athletes, to everyday folks, to eating disorder recovery), and helped hundreds of nutrition coaches grow their own practices.
But the truth? The reason I created PRO$PER has nothing to do with degrees or certifications.
It’s because I know what it feels like to want so badly to help people, and still feel like your nutrition biz is stuck.
My first 3–5 years as a coach were rough. I had no clue how to make the business side work. But for over a decade now, I’ve been running a multi–six-figure nutrition practice that actually feels good.
Even when I had to step away to kick cancer’s ass, my business kept growing — because the systems I built worked, and my team had a proven path to follow.
Here’s a little snapshot of who I am (and how I show up to this work):
This is the final week to join the September cohort, and the last enrollment for 2025.
Doors close Sunday. Let's go!
