I Quit…

Burnout almost made me walk away from nutrition coaching... for good. In this honest post, I share the breaking point moment that changed everything—and the systems I now use to stay energized and love my work again.

Happy 2-Tips Tuesday!

Here are two ideas to consider this week.

By Jennifer Broxterman, RD

1. I Quit Being a Nutrition Coach

Technically, I quit.

Not because I didn’t love it.

Not because I wasn’t good at it.

But because I was completely burnt out.

I had a roster of 480+ nutrition clients. One day, I found myself sobbing over a cold bowl of butternut squash soup… 2.5 hours behind on eating lunch, watching salty tears make little raindrops in my meal.

That was my breaking point. Cold, soggy, tear-soaked soup.

So I stepped away. I announced a sabbatical. I quietly let go of the energy drainers… and passed my best clients to my team.

I took a full year off from nutrition coaching, and then added on another six months to my sabbatical when I still didn't feel ready to step back into it.

It felt like failure. But it was actually the start of everything getting better.

Looking back, I’m weirdly grateful for that dark, cloudy day of deep exhaustion and career-halting burnout. It forced me to pause and completely re-evaluate the business I had built, and how I wanted to coach moving forward.

Raise your hand if you’ve been in the trenches of bone-tired burnout lately?

If you’re spending more time answering emails, putting out fires, and juggling admin than actually coaching clients, you’re not alone.

Or maybe it’s the constant stream of DMs, 24/7 client messages, and content creation pressure that’s draining your energy and joy.

That’s not you being broken. That’s just the hard way of running a nutrition coaching business.

And it’s why I decided to get really honest in this YouTube video:

Watch: I Almost Quit Nutrition Coaching (Here's Why)

In the video, I share:

✅ The 3 biggest reasons nutrition coaches burn out
✅ The moment I almost quit for good
✅ And the exact systems I use now to stay energized and love coaching again

Whether you’re just starting out or feeling the pressure of “success,” I hope this brings you clarity, tools, and a little hope.

2. A Line to Remember

You can love your work and still need a break.

Remember this: it’s not successful, if it’s not sustainable!
